Kimiye and Cody: engagement photos in Carlsbad

She stepped away from her friends for a bit to watch the line dancing at InCahoots.  When he walked up and stood beside her, she asked him to move because he was standing too close. This turned into a joke, sparking a conversation that lasted well into the evening.  The first of many.

Not all love stories are necessarily ‘romantic’ in the traditional definition of the word. I think it’s funny, and actually really fitting, that Kimiye and Cody’s first conversation began with teasing. Even in the short amount of time that I spent with the two of them together during this photo shoot, I could see that teasing, fun, and laughter are a huge part of who they are as a couple. During our session, they were more likely to poke fun at each other, making goofy faces, than they were to look longingly into each others eyes. And frankly, I wouldn’t have had it any other way. I love these photos.  You can tell just by looking at them that these two clearly are amused by each other. And I could be wrong, but I believe that at times you might even catch a glimpse of adoration when the other person isn’t looking…
